ABD Radio's Pacific Beat reports: Women from South, Central and North Bougainville have come together in Buka to highlight the role that women play in promoting peace and security in that region of PNG.
The week-long conference is being held as the autonomous region commemorates the signing of the Bougainville Peace Agreement that ended a decade-long armed conflict on August 30, 2001.
The Parliamentary Committee on Gender, Peace and Security - working with the UN Development Programme - have put the conference together, and UNDP's Head of Governance, Julie Bukikun, says the prospect of independence for Bougainville has been a key focus for discussion.
